Serpent's Temptations

Serpent's Temptations" depicts humanity's deep-seated fear of its own sinful tendencies. The artist uses the visualization of fables to convey this idea of the fear and darkness within humans. Biblically, the serpent is symbolic of the devil who tempted Eve to sin. Therefore, in this work, the serpent binds and coils around the deer, as if encouraging it to sin. The deer itself stands as a personification of humanity itself, or more precisely, as a personification of human goodness and purity. In fables, deer are often depicted as noble, pure, and majestic. Deer are almost never depicted as bad or evil. The artist uses the deer as a symbolic representation of humanity's positive side, as in this work, it is forced to acknowledge the existence of its negative side, which is as real as the positives it represents.
Although sin is generally considered wrong, it can have a liberating element, hence the bright green color of the snake in this particular artwork. In contrast, the deer is colored a dark red to symbolize the hidden sins humans desire to commit, but are held back by their moral values and beliefs.
Humans often must restrain themselves from committing sinful acts. Sin is a darkness within humans, unattractive and often suppressed by its owners. According to the artist, the fear of sinning is a distinct fear that humans possess and experience in everyday life.
