Don't Leave Me Alone

Art has always been a creative outlet for the deeper parts of my subconscious, to roam, laugh, cry, freely and honestly.
My latest painting "You Like That?" depicts a young lady, sitting adorably, sensually, stripped down, ready to receive the love that was promised to her. However, the soft pastel colours, and the cheeky tone of the painting is intentionally contrasted with the dark, bloody insides that is innocently revealed by her.
As a young, single woman in her mid-20s, I had to swallow a very hard pill, love unfortunately scares a lot of people. Being vulnerable, being unashamed about your humanity, your accomplishments, your fears, terrifies a lot of people, including myself.
Sarcastically, sometimes it does feel like exposing your insides when you share a moment of your childhood, parts of your personality as you slowly open up, fragments of your wounds that you’ve been pushing down, or even as simple as sharing your favourite album.
Despite all that, I learned a very wonderful lesson; love will not scare the people that are always meant to be in your life, so why be afraid of it?
